Look who we just added to our closet. Trust us, you’re going to want them in yours too.
We’re proud to announce our new partnership with Outland Denim, a premium Australian brand dedicated to profit-for-purpose. Sustainably sourced and ethically made, these jeans drive social change and look good doing it.
Outland Denim’s story began simply, with a “denim project” launched by founder, James Bartle, after meeting an Asian anti-trafficking group. He learned that young girls who attempt to leave the sex industry, which is riddled with sexual exploitation and human trafficking, need a sustainable career path to succeed.
Inspired and driven to help these vulnerable young girls and women, he decided to create a sustainable business that would offer them employment. And to him, the product was of course going to be quality denim.
“I’ve always lived in jeans. If you were going to produce anything, why wouldn’t you produce the most staple part of a person’s wardrobe? Jeans aren’t a throw-away item, but something you keep for years,” said Bartle.
With that in mind, Outland Denim sources only the most ethically and environmentally friendly materials. Young seamstresses, working at the brand’s own manufacturing centre in Cambodia, then handcraft the type of jeans you’ll want to keep forever. We know we do.
So of course, this partnership was a no-brainer. Not only are we now a minority shareholder in Outland Denim, we’re also set to be their North American distributor as of Fall 2017.
“I know the North American consumer will appreciate the premium product and fit, and that the product will earn its place in the market on its own merits, but it will also earn its place into the hearts and minds of our partners and customers as they all participate in changing lives around the world,” said Michael Purkis, President of Caulfeild Apparel.
Get ready for jeans that will not just transform your wardrobe, they’ll be making the world a better place. And somewhere, someone will be thanking you for doing your part.
Now that’s what we call a good fit.
