The premiere may be over, but the John Lennon Signature Collection has only just begun to impress fashion – and music – lovers.
A historic achievement for Caulfeild Apparel, we were proud to launch this significant new collection, in partnership with Toronto Men’s Fashion Week (TOM*), on August 20.
“This show was yet another milestone moment in our 130-years of business. It was the perfect opportunity to highlight our capability to fuse music, fashion, culture and history into a clothing collection that allows men to look and feel great, while wearing art and showcasing their individual style,” said Mike Purkis, president of Caulfeild Apparel Group.
The inspiration for the collection needs no introduction. John Lennon, not only revolutionized the world of music and culture, he became an immortal style icon.
Designers, prominent style bloggers and fashionistas packed the house at Mattamy Athletic Centre for the Saturday evening premiere. John Angus MacDonald, lead singer of Canadian rock band, The Trews, opened the show with a moving rendition of Imagine. Then, the main event unveiled 24 looks from the unique collection. To cap off the evening, every guest in attendance was gifted with a graphic tee from the collection, beautifully wrapped in a record sleeve.
Eclectic, and reminiscent of the 60s era Lennon helped to define, the designs simultaneously achieve a modern vibe, thanks to contemporary silhouettes. From leather pieces to graphic tops featuring his lyrics and even his own art, the combination of European fabrics and intricate design elements truly captures the musical legend’s personal style.
Kelly Pettit, the collection’s designer was thrilled with the outcome of the show. “The TOM* team was exceptional to work with, as were the amazing sponsors who made the event possible! From our handsome models and John-Angus MacDonald’s fantastic acoustic rendition of Imagine, to the touching video released by Yoko Ono – the entire evening was magical,” she said. “It has been such a privilege to honour and appreciate John Lennon’s cultural legacy through the creation of this collection.”
